Hi we’re Steve and Tim and we’re glad you’ve found our fantastic Oakland condo! When we found this live/work loft it was a hair salon but we loved the high ceilings, huge windows, and the incredible building amenities. Having a unique townhouse-like space like ours also means that we are one of the few condos that receive food and grocery deliveries right at our door (all the other floors have to retrieve theirs from the building lobby!). Having the convenience of a larger condo building gives offers all the great amenities you might expect like package receiving, a fitness center, pool, community holiday parties, and great roof decks for watching 4th of July fireworks. Since we first moved in, the neighborhood has continued to grow and develop adding 5 new apartment buildings within walking distance (three of which are right outside our front door)! The Jack London Improvement District is a non-profit organization that has done an amazing job introducing new restaurants to our area, organizing a farmers market on the weekends and a monthly vintage market, and an incredible seasonal tree lighting ceremony. We also have a number of breweries with a rotating schedule of guest food trucks/pop ups so there’s always something new to check out. We both work in downtown San Francisco and for our commute we take both the Ferry (10-15 min walk) to the Ferry Building and BART from the Lake Merritt Station (<10 min walk), which is only three stops to Embarcadero stop (Tim) or four stops to Powell (Steve). The neighborhood is also very pet friendly, and Wag hotels is on the way to the BART station, which makes it convenient to drop off our dog on our way to work. Additionally, Tim is an avid runner, and runs around Lake Merritt several times a week, which is roughly a ten minute walk and the perimeter of the lake is equivalent to a 5K run. The Oakland Museum is also roughly a ten minute walk, which has a fascinating history of California. We also love live music and just a couple BART stops away (or 10 minute Uber) is the Fox Theatre, which is one of the most beautiful theaters in the Bay Area. Even closer is Yoshi’s (10 min walk) which specializes in amazing live Jazz. About twenty minutes away is downtown Berkeley, which we’ve seen several outdoor shows at the Greek theatre. Other great neighborhoods nearby that we frequently go to include downtown Alameda, Piedmont, the Temescal and the Grand Lake area.
